What you should do
- Determine if your property is directly affected. If you're north of Columbia Blvd, between NE 13th and I-205, check the map (11mb pdf file) to get a closer look.
- Click on the square that includes your property. This will take you to a map of your existing zoning.Scroll down to the next page/map that shows the proposed zoning.
- Determine if the proposed zoning will change what you are allowed to do on the property. If the new zoning designation includes the letter c, you will likely be impacted. If the designation includes the letter p, the impacts will be more severe.
- Check your address on Metro's habitat inventory. While the City and Metro approaches to this issue differ, comparing Metro's habitat inventory to the City's inventory can give you insight to the different ways to evaluate habitat. (CCA participated in the Metro's Nature in Neighborhoods planning process and is reasonably pleased with the result.)
- Attend the Upcoming Events below. We need your input on this critical issue.
Resources
For a pdf file that includes maps of current zoning and proposed zoning, click here. The first page of the pdf file contains an overall map with gridlines. Find your property and click on that square. This will take you to a map of your existing zoning, followed on the next page of a map of the proposed zoning. Watch for the letters p and c in the zoning codes. For example, IG2hp indicates and industrial zone with a p zone overlay.
Read the City's draft Natural Resources Inventory and the ESEE analysis.
Review the Environmental Zone Overlay code. P-zones are the most restrictive, often referred to as "no-touch" zones. C-zones usually extend further from the slough, but are less restrictive. The Environmental Zone code is in chapter 33.430. The general development standards can be found in section 33.430.140.
Check your property information at www.PortlandMaps.com. This is an excellent site that includes a tremendous amount of information on parcels in Portland. However, it DOES NOT include any of the proposed zoning changes in Airport Futures.
